On April 4, 2018 at approximately 7 a.m., Utah Highway Patrol Troopers were dispatched to a tanker rollover on SR 40 near the Strawberry UDOT sheds (mile post 42). The crash closed the road for nearly three hours. While enroute, Troopers were advised that only the pup trailer had rolled and caught fire and the tractor and long trailer were able to detach from the pup and move from the scene. Upon arrival, the pup trailer was fully engulfed in the west bound lane of SR 40. A UHP report said the driver of the semi had fallen asleep and drifted off the right shoulder of the road. When he corrected back onto the roadway, the pup trailer rolled and then caught fire. Wasatch County Fire Department responded and was able to extinguish the fire. UHP said there was crude oil that entered a stream next to the crash. As of press time, the trucking company is working with Envirocare on the clean up of the crash scene as well as the crude oil that entered the stream.
