As we approach another Veterans Day on Friday we have made it a tradition to give accolades to our veterans in the pages of this newspaper and this year will be no different.

Included in your copy of this week’s edition of The Wasatch Wave is our tribute to the Veterans of Wasatch County. Our Veteran’s Section highlights many of our local heroes.

With that honor comes a rather sobering thought - those veterans who fought for us in two “wars to end all wars,” World Wars I and II are dwindling to just a few survivors.

Those who survived the devastation and horrors of war are now succumbing to the last battle, old age. Each year there are fewer and fewer veterans left from World War II. Take this opportunity to thank them for their service, before it’s too late.

In addition to this aging generation of heroes, more and more of our young soldiers are being called to service in locations fraught with danger.

Each one of us must take a personal vow to say thank you and honor those who have served their county in time of war, be it the “war to end all wars” or more current conflicts that have threatened democracy and our freedoms.

Exercising your right to vote is both a privilege and a responsibility of every American. We hope that each of you celebrated our Veteran’s sacrifices and voted in Tuesday’s election. These brave men and women fought to give us that right - and our young warriors continue to carry that burden.

We must never forget our Veteran’s sacrifices. Thank you to each and every one of you.

God Bless Our Veterans.
