March 7 was the regional spelling bee at the Egyptian Theater in Park City for area youth. It was tough competition and came down to the final five who went many rounds without anyone missing a word. The fun thing is the top five were all from Heber Valley!

1st place - Winner - Melinda Buhlman (Rocky Mountain Middle School)

2nd place - Soren Nielson (Rocky Mountain Middle School)

3rd place -Jenna Mahoney (Timpanogos Intermediate)

4th place - Scott Mahoney (Rocky Mountain Middle School)

5th place - Ethan Scott (Timpanogos Intermediate)

Melinda Buhlman will go to Washington DC to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Melinda won the competition with the word “chagrin.”
