The Wasatch County Board of Education met on May 29, to discuss future sites for a second High School and a new Midway Elementary School.
According to the School Board, with Wasatch County being named the fasting growing community in the State and the fourth fastest growing county in the nation, it is becoming alarmingly obvious that the need for more schools has reached critical levels. At this time there are 107 Active and planned housing projects in Wasatch County totaling 3000 new units to be built by 2025.
It is projected that 5,300 Single Family Units and 4,100 Single Family Apartments to be built in the next decade. Based on projected growth, student population with increase over the next seven years at rate of 22% totaling 8,600 students.
The School Board estimates Wasatch High School will become a 6A high school by 2021.
