At about 6 a.m. on Thursday morning, the Wasatch County Sheriff's Office, Heber City Police Department and Wasatch County EMS were dispatched to a mock officer-involved shooting at 1401 South SR 189 (the log works building at the corner of SR 189 and Heber Parkway).

Officers were unaware of the exercise until they were called-out to respond. The exercise provided an opportunity to employ and test the call-out system and investigative processes used in officer-involved critical incidents.

In these kind of situations, the Attorney General's Office will investigate the actions and decisions of officers involved. The Heber City Police Department appreciates the AG's Office for responding with many investigators to assist. According to the police department, the Wasatch County EMS is extremely supportive and helpful during times of crisis

The Heber Police Facebook page commended the officers saying, “Our patrol deputies and detectives do an amazing job of working through these difficult and stressful situations and we appreciate them and their families for putting-up with the early morning/late-night calls. They provide wonderful service for our community!”
