Ephraim Kent Ellertson passed away on Nov 3, 2018, in Heber City.

Born on July 3, 1927, to Elgy Norman Ellertson and Zella Vest, he was the fourth of five children. Kent grew up in Mona, Utah, where he attended Mona Elementary and graduated from Juab High School in Nephi. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Arts Education and math from Utah State University and began teaching in Tabiona, Utah, where he met his wife, Elaine Lewis. They were married June 3, 1952, in the Salt Lake Temple. He received a Master’s Degree in 1966 from Utah State University in Education Administration. He taught and was principal of Tabiona School for 19 years. He moved his family to Heber City in 1968 where he was the Director of the Northeastern Utah Service Center for 16 years. He was an amazing teacher and many of his former students say that he was the best teacher they ever had. Kent was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and spending time on Tabby Mountain. He enjoyed spending time with his family whether boating on Deer Creek Reservoir or getting together for birthdays and special occasions. He loved to read - especially westerns, the newspaper, and science and outdoor magazines. Kent was a wonderful father always available to his children. He had a special relationship with each of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was thrilled when they came to spend time with him. He was a loving husband who faithfully took care of his wife until she passed away in July 2012. He was a loving neighbor and friend to all those around him. He had a funny wit and people loved to hear him tell stories and quote poetry. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he faithfully served in many capacities. His family and friends have really enjoyed spending time with him the last few years, learning from him and serving him. He will be greatly missed by everyone.

Kent is survived by his sister, Gaye Kay (Wallace); daughter, Teresa Taylor; daughter, Sheila Hoover (Thomas); son, Kerry Ellertson (Ginny); and daughter, Becky Kemp (Jack); 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m., in the LDS Church at 325 East 500 North, Heber City. Interment will follow the services at the Heber City Cemetery. Condolences may be shared online at www.ProbstFamilyFunerals.com.

The family would like to thank the Abbington and Hospice staff who lovingly took care of him in his final days.
